The Story Starts With You.

Welcome!

Robin Hoik Phillips - Writer Editor

Hi, I’m Robin.

I'm an accomplished and award-winning writer/editor with a passion for crafting stories that celebrate people, places, and businesses, as well as compelling, on-trend themes.

I also create copy and content across all platforms to help small business owners stand out, build trust in a saturated market, and organically reach their dream clients.

When storytelling aligns with brand values, that connection comes naturally — and so do the conversions.

At the heart of it all, my work always comes back to these three key principles: clarity, creativity, and integrity.

“I know nothing in the world that has as much power as a word. Sometimes I write one, and I look at it until it begins to shine.”

—Emily Dickinson

“Robin is by far the best editor I know. She is sensitive, thoughtful and demands a level of writing that both entertains her audience and elevates the magazine. She is always looking for an interesting story, a creative angle, a unique point of view. Robin is intelligent and perceptive, and every change she suggests pushes my writing forward.”

—Sarah Galluzzo, copywriter & journalist

View My Work

My passion has always been the world of magazine publishing, and I have been fortunate to write and edit for award-winning print and online lifestyle magazines. I’ve also created and edited custom publications for local businesses to help them reach their best audience.

Great copy is needed in so many places, and I love creating it for marketing, promotional, advertorial materials, and business and personal web sites.

“Robin Phillips of ROBINEdits has been an invaluable resource to me for years. Robin’s innate sense of story and structure elevates all material — no matter how pedestrian — to the next level, making it the best it can be. Her ability to flag inconsistencies, correct egregious grammar, and zone in on the essence of a story is remarkable. Robin has helped me with feature articles, press releases, web content, screenplays, and stage plays. She is smart, savvy, and extremely professional. But perhaps the best part of collaborating with Robin, is that she is so much damn fun to work with. ROBINedits makes everything better.”

—Megan Smith-Harris, former editor Wilton Magazine

Get to Know Me

I have worked in magazine publishing for over 25 years, with posts at powerhouse publishers Meredith Corporation and Condé Nast, working on such titles as Ladies’ Home Journal, MORE, Better Homes & Gardens, Country Home, Traditional Home, House & Garden, and Bon Appetit Magazines.

I was most recently the editor of Fairfield Magazine, a popular lifestyle publication focusing on the people, homes, businesses, culture, and causes of Fairfield County, an affluent suburb of New York City. In addition to collaborating with the best writers and photographers anywhere, I was honored to be able to write feature stories and articles about home design, beauty, health, nonprofit organizations, local chefs, food, and travel.

Making our magazine features and stories come to life for the public is a specialty of mine, and to that end, I created the popular and bi-annual Taste of Fairfield events. Local chefs, restaurants, wine, beer, and spirits businesses came together to delight the food-loving public with their tastes and sips twice a year.

Nothing is more important to me than my community, and I enjoy working with local leaders and businesses to help make our towns and small businesses thrive while also highlighting their stories.

“Let me live, love, and say it well in good sentences.”

— Sylvia Plath

“Robin is a brilliant writer. After giving her a mish-mosh of information, she crafted a beautiful story about my business. It is always so impressive the way Robin is able to speak to someone and then turn the messaging into a compelling narrative. I get so many compliments on her professional and well written copy.”
